Making a claim - OVHC

When you can claim

You may be able to:

  • claim money back on a treatment you’ve already paid
  • claim money to pay for treatment.
Waiting periods may apply

A waiting period is the amount of time you need to wait before you can make a claim through your OVHC policy. Waiting periods may apply to your policy if you’re claiming medical costs related to pregnancy or pre-existing conditions depending on your policy type and coverage.

How to make a claim

To make a claim:

  1. Download the OVHC claim form
  2. Print and complete the form
  3. Scan your completed form and any relevant attachments (e.g. receipts) and email them to ovhcclaims@allianz-assistance.com.au with your claim reference in the subject line

Alternatively, you can post your claim and receipts to:

Allianz Global Assistance OVHC
Locked Bag 3004
Toowong QLD 4066

Direct billing

Using our network of providers makes it easier for you to claim when you visit a doctor. All you need to do is provide your valid membership card and the provider will bill us directly for the covered amount of your bill.

With direct billing, the doctor bills us directly.

Make sure you select a doctor or medical provider that specifies they can direct bill.

What’s a gap fee?

Some medical providers may charge a gap fee at the time of service, but the rest of the bill will be taken care of by us. You may incur a gap fee if the amount owing is more than the benefit you’re entitled to under your cover. You’ll need to pay the gap fee yourself and won’t be able to claim that amount.  We recommend you call your doctor before visiting to get an idea of what it will cost you.

Receiving your benefit

Your claim will be processed within 10 working days from receiving your claim. Keep in mind that postage and bank clearance times can take a couple of days.

If you’ve submitted a claim for treatment you’ve already paid for, you can choose to have your benefit paid by:

  • direct debit – we’ll deposit money into your nominated bank account
  • cheque – we’ll send you a cheque to your postal address

If you’ve submitted a claim to pay for treatment, we’ll send the payment directly to your general practitioner or medical provider. Make sure you submit your claim as soon as possible so we can pay the bill on time.
